Joel L. Michaels '75 Former Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council Retired Partner, McDermott Will & Emery
As a law student at 51³Ô¹ÏWCL, he participated in the Law Review. He assumed his role as interim chair of 51³Ô¹ÏWCL’s Dean’s Advisory Council at the request of Dean Camille Nelson. At the request of Acting Dean Robert Dinerstein, he agreed to remain in this role. In addition, Joel served as the chair of 51³Ô¹ÏWCL’s health law advisory board.  Â
Outside of his work at 51³Ô¹ÏWCL he is an Adjunct Professor of Law, at Arizona State University Law School (since Jan 2018). Mr. Michaels is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) where he has served on its Board of Directors and chaired its HMOs and Health Plans Substantive Interest Law Committee. He is an AHLA "Fellow" and is the recipient of their David J. Greenberg Service Award in recognition of his contributions to the organization. Mr. Michaels is a frequent speaker before national trade and professional associations and is widely published in the field of health care law.Â
